Tattersalls Cup - Tour of Gippsland
by Luke McDonough
Adrian Hanson,
Steve Pilson and Darren Lapthorne recently competed in the
Tattersall’s Cup Tour of Gippsland. Lapthorne was unlucky to miss
out on a top ten placing. After a creditable fourth place on stage
6, Darren moved into ninth place overall. A break away on the final
stage saw two riders move into the top ten, leaving Darren in
eleventh.
Steve Pilson
found the going tough in his first major tour, in his first year of
racing with the criteriums especially difficult. His best results
finishing with the leading bunch (10 seconds down) on Stage four
into Loch Sport where the bunch sat on 50/60km/hr for the stage.
The Tattersall's
Cup series continues with the Jayco Tour of Tasmania from Wednesday
August 17 to Sunday 21. Coburg will be represented by Darren
Lapthorne, Steve Pilson and Andrew Ward, with Luke McDonough team
manager/massage therapist.
The leading 10
riders in the Tattersall's Cup earn automatic entry, including air
fares and accommodation to the Tour of Queensland from October 27 to
November 3.
