Started Cycling, tell us about cycling in your generation:

Started when I was 15 in 1945 on the dirt track at Coburg which was later  made asphalt (similar to Preston’s) and then concrete (current track)

Committee position/Coach/Commissaire

Former President of Coburg for 16 years , Life member of Coburg, Life member of Cyclesport Victoria and State Commissaire

Tell us about the good old days

Cycling today is terrible no depth and no real stars. We did not worry about diets. Sid Paterson ate and drank everything and was still a champion.

How many Km/Hours a week do you do?

Had to get up at 4.30am to get in as many miles as possible before work.

What sort of bike do you have?

“Super Stevens” from a  bike shop in Sydney Road (Norm Stevens won a Melbourne to Ballarat as a Coburg rider)

Track or Road rider?

None since a 50 tonne tip truck ran over my right ankle!.

Best result:

Nothing sensational

Best Coburg rider of your generation:

Brian Forbes on the Track and  Mat Martino (Australian Champion) on the road
