Dylan Peatling took out the Pop Stewart Handicap at Carlsruhe on Saturday
8 September.  The young Coburg rider held off Adrian Hanson (Coburg) and
the chasing bunch by 20 seconds to repeat the effort of his dad who won
the race twice in the 1980's.

The 5 minute, 7 minute and 9.30 minute bunches merged half way through the
second lap and formed the biggest bunch on the road.  On the last lap up
the KOM the scratch and 3min bunch was still 3 minutes behind the leaders.
 Frank Harkins (25min), David Bertovich (11.30min) and the remnants of the
11.30min, 25 min and limit bunch were caught up this final KOM climb, with
Peatling still out front.

Andrew McGrath and Andrew Gannon (both 5 min) pushed the pace up the KOM
and took Peter Ferrie (5min), Steve Hanlon (7min)and Anthony Seipolt
(7min) with them.  The chasing group contained Luke McDonough (9.30min),
Paul Lewis (11.30min) and Mark Horner (7min).

With about 3km to go Luke McDonough sat up with Horner as the scratch
riders had quickly cut the 3 minute deficit they had at the base of the
KOM.  John Marcan (5min), Pete Knight (3min), Tom McDonough (3min) and the
lone scratch rider at this stage Adrian Hanson put in the chase of the
five leaders with Peatling still the sole leader on the road.

Luke McDonough, John Marcan and Pete Knight faded in the chase.  Tom
McDonough and Adrian Hanson bridged about 50m from the finish to catch the
bunch by surprise and take out the minor placings with Peter Ferrie
separating them for third.
