National Boulevard Criterium
Saturday 18th
November, 2006, Campbellfield, by Luke McDonough
Andrew Wilmott (Brunswick) took out
the second round of criterium racing
on the National Boulevarde, Campbellfield on Saturday. Wilmott beat
Coburg duo Tom McDonough and Wayne Gebert. All three riders had
contested
the recent Melbourne to Warnnambool, as had other competitors Luke
McDonough (Coburg) and John Marcan (Sunbury). Wilmott crashed early
in
the Warnnambool and was unable to complete the race, meaning the
criterium
win was some consolation.
The C grade race saw track rider Toby Glennon (Northcote) proving
too fast
for Marcus Speed (Coburg) and Mel Humphries-Grey (Northcote) who was
promoted to C grade after his win in D grade the week prior.
Ian McGinley (Coburg) took out the D grade race in only his third
attempt
at racing. McGinley had time to salute the onlookers and will surely
face
promotion to C grade.
